Best Books
There is no doubt that reading to young children everyday is hugely important to thier early literacy development. When my older children were little, they used to look forward to library day the way some children look forward to Disneyland! My little ones now put books aside specifically for 'nighttime reading'. There are books in my home that I cannot imagine raising my children without and infact I have had to purchase more than one copy of some books over the years as they have been so well used, loved and read over and over again. The children's books that are currently requested on a daily basis are Alice the Fairy, How I became a pirate (both written by David Shannon). We recently added Ahoy, Pirate Pete to our treaure trove in the toy box. Pete is a cute little pirate that goes on a simple pirate adventure. What makes this story so much fun is it is changable! It can be super silly, a little scary, or truely pirate like. In my house this book gets 5 stars! This book can be purchased through Discovery Toys and would make a fun birthday or Christmas gift for a little boy or girl over the age of 3.

Have you seen Discovery Toys lately?
I first got to know and love Discovery Toys in the 80's when my now grown children were little. Now that I am again a mother of young children I was eager to find well made, affordable, educational, open ended toys for them to be able to play with and enjoy. I was elated to find Discovery Toys again! The company has been in business for over 25 years and still makes many of the classic toys my older children grew up with. Additionally they have become affilitated with the Autism society, have updated thier look and expanded thier lineto now include books and software! I am and always have been very impressed with this company nd was quite happy to be able to join with them as an independent educational consultant. You can find out more about this exciting company too. Visit my website at www.discoverytoyslink.com/bquerido.
